Jana pittman

2021 Sports Hall of Fame inductee Jana Pittman’s story is a roller coaster of triumph, defeat, failure and success.

As two-time World Champion and four-time Commonwealth Champion in the sport of athletics, and the first woman to represent Australia in both a Summer (2000, 2004) and Winter Olympic Games (2014), Jana personifies resilience and determination.

Off the track Jana completed a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery at Western Sydney University in 2019 (graduating with First Class Honours and the University Medal) and is now a practising doctor in south-eastern Sydney. Jana is also helping to establish one of Australia’s first uterus transplant teams and works with the International Society for Uterus Transplant. With her own personal scare with cervical dysplasia, Jana became an ambassador for the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation.

MHC logoMother Hubbard's Cupboard

Mother Hubbard's Cupboard (MHC) began in May 2008 with the desire to do something to help the needs of our community, becoming a not-for-profit incorporated charity.

Our vision is simple:

To be aware of the needs of our local community and beyond and, as appropriate, to respond in practical and/or monetary ways.

Our strategy is to raise funds or provide goods to meet these needs.

This is done by:

  • taking what we already have and no longer need - we rely on donations.

  • bringing goods to a central location where people are able to purchase them.

  The cycle is simple:

  • the donors clean out their cupboards,
  • the community find inexpensive bargains,
  • and the money raised is distributed to community needs.

EVERYONE WINS! “Filling what’s empty” aptly describes the process(We empty – they fill)

Our main focus is towards survivors of domestic and family violence and the homeless. MHC comes alongside agencies who are supporting those in need, providing furniture, household goods, linen and clothing to these families without cost to the agency or their clients.

MHC relies solely on volunteers (92 currently) and community donations, processing the donations and raising funds through an Op Shop at 65 Harrington Street, Elderslie, and Collectables and Old Wares Shop at 91 Argyle Street, Picton.

MHC is the community working for the community, doing together what we could not do as individuals.

By coming alongside and by our practical actions Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard is saying – you are worth it

MHC’s aim is fulfilled as people recover with dignity and go on in life’s journey.

Our purpose is to transform lives for people living with disabilities so they can live in safety and comfortAs a leading and registered NDIS Provider with over 20 years' experience, we believe every participant requires customised bathroom modifications and design solutions which are tailored to their needs and lifestyle, without compromising the personality and value of their home.

Our team of professionals offer expertise in design and build for NDIS Bespoke Complex Home Modifications and Specialist Disability Accommodation which thoughtfully consider our clients' needs rather than provide a general blueprint which lacks a personalised bespoke vision. Our success and various awards showcase our commitment to creating environments for people living with disabilities that are not just aesthetically pleasing but also inclusive and clinically accessible.

We are passionate about highlighting the importance of creating spaces that empower NDIS participants, emphasising that quality construction should be a right, not a privilege. Our service must consider extra compliance and clinical standards opposed to a general building and modification works. As a leading and well-respected NDIS Provider in the disability sector, we go beyond conventional norms and constantly raise the bar in search of solutions for our participants. We lead with heart and value people without judgement. We are constructing a future where accessibility and quality are paramount, ensuring everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy spaces that are crafted with care and expertise.

Alison is an extremely creative individual with a passion for design and style who loves to create and construct. Moving away from her background in banking, Alison chose to fulfil her goal of being an event planner and stylist, which is where her passion lies. Daniel has a great eye for detail and is also a creative individual. With a background in electrical, Daniel is fantastic when it comes to custom light work, along with prop design and creation which is one of Daniel's many strengths. Together, Alison and Daniel form a fantastic team and have been able to create and accomplish their ideal business goals together.

The business model since the very start has been quality over quantity. Quality service, quality design, quality Styling. "Our goal isn't to do the most events, our goal is to provide our clients with the most exciting and memorable setups for their special occasions".

Danali Events has been featured on 60 Minutes and has had the privilege of working with many Local Camden businesses over the years whilst travelling far and wide, turning ideas & and visions into reality. Both Alison & and Daniel are community-oriented people with strong family values and it is these qualities we feel are most important when trying to understand and provide personalised, detailed event setups for families and small businesses, and this shows in many aspects of Danali events.
