Kerbside Clean Up

Camden Council's Kerbside Clean Up service provides a convenient solution for residents to dispose of bulky waste materials not suitable for regular garbage collection.

Residential properties are eligible for three (3) Kerbside Clean Up services per financial year. Additional Kerbside Clean Up services can be requested for a nominal fee by reaching out to Council's Customer Relations Team on 13 22 63. The applicable fee details can be found in Council's Fees & Charges.

To schedule your Kerbside Clean Up service, please read the information below and then use the booking tool. If you are unable to book online, please contact Council's Customer Relations Team on 13 22 63.

To book a clean up, please follow these easy steps:

1. Check what you CAN place out on your kerb for collection

  • Carpet, carpet underlay or vinyl flooring should be cut and rolled into 1 metre lengths and tied with string or tape.
  • Each individual item must be able to be reasonably lifted by two people. Items which are not reasonably able to be lifted by two people due to excessive weight or size (2m long) will not be accepted.
  • For items such as refrigerators and freezers, remove the doors before placing them at the kerbside.
  • Ensure that refrigerators are degassed before collection to comply with safety regulations.
  • Ensure all batteries are removed prior to placing items out for collection.
  • Drain fuel and oil from any applicable appliances, such as lawnmowers.
  • Securely tie and bundle loose materials into manageable loads.
  • Individual branches must be no larger than 1m long and 10cm in diameter.

3. Make a booking

Before scheduling your Kerbside Clean Up, please explore more environmentally friendly alternatives, such as donating items to charity organisations and thrift shops. Your donations play a vital role in reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfill, contributing to a more sustainable future. 

How to book?

To book a Kerbside Clean Up Service, either:

  • Complete the online booking form,
  • Contact Council's Customer Relations Team on 13 22 63,
  • Or download the ‘OurCamden’ App to make a booking from your smart phone.

To schedule a Kerbside Clean Up for a retirement village, strata property or similar, please contact your Property Manager to arrange the booking.

Change or cancel your booking

  • To change your existing booking details, please contact Council’s Customer Relations Team on 13 22 63.
  • To cancel your booking, please contact Council’s Customer Relations Team on 13 22 63, or click on the ‘Cancel your booking’ button on your Booking Confirmation email.
  • To reschedule your booking, please follow the above instructions to cancel your booking, and then recomplete the online booking form.

4. Place your items out for collection

When to place your items

  • Put your items out at your normal bin collection point the night before your scheduled booking date. Please note, items should be out no earlier than 48 hours prior to your scheduled booking date.

How to place your items

  • Items must be placed on the kerb. If this is not possible, please contact Council’s Customer Relations Team on 13 22 63.
  • Place your items in a single neat pile, not exceeding the allocated three [3] cubic metres (3m x 1m x 1m) for a ‘single’ service or six [6] cubic metres (6m x 1m x 1m) for a ‘double’ service.
  • Ensure your items are clear from obstructions, such as parked cars, street signs and trees.
  • Items placed inside the property boundary will not be collected.
  • Ensure items comply with What you CAN place out on your kerb for collection.

What to do if your items weren’t collected

Items can be collected anytime from 4am to 1pm. If your items are not collected after 1pm, you can report a missed collection. Missed collections will be picked up within 2 business days.

Before reporting a missed collection:

  • Check your email to see if you have received communication from Council
  • Check your items were presented correctly and are acceptable for collection
  • Check your mailbox for a leaflet explaining why your items were not collected

5. Terms and Conditions

  • All residential properties that are levied a domestic waste charge have access to three [3] Kerbside Clean Up Services per financial year.
  • The Kerbside Clean Up Service is not available to vacant, commercial or industrial properties.
  • A single Kerbside Clean Up Service is limited to a maximum of three [3] cubic meters of material (3m x 1m x 1m). If materials exceed three cubic meters, residents can request a 'double' service, allowing for up to six [6] cubic meters of material (6m x 1m x 1m). Please note that the total number of single services is capped at three per financial year, and arranging a double service will count as two single service bookings.
  • Bookings are based on availability. The next available booking date will be shown for your property at the time of booking.
  • Council reserves the right to reallocate your booking date for any reason. Residents will be notified by phone, SMS or email if impacted by such changes.
  • Bookings can be cancelled by providing Council with a minimum of 5 days’ notice prior to your booking date. If your booking is not cancelled within this timeframe, it may be counted towards the property’s number of eligible services. Please contact Council’s Customer Relations Team on 13 22 63 to cancel a booking, or click on the ‘Cancel your booking’ button on your booking confirmation email.
  • If Council attends a property and the material is not placed out on the kerb, this may be counted towards the property’s number of eligible services.
  • Council reserves the right to reject unacceptable material. It will be the responsibility of the resident to remove and dispose of the unacceptable material appropriately within 24 hours.
  • To schedule a Kerbside Clean Up for a retirement village, strata property or similar, please contact your Property Manager to arrange the booking.
  • Kerbside Clean Up Services may be available to residential flat buildings by special arrangement.
  • Material is to be placed in a safe location away from power poles. If you live near a roundabout or intersection, please contact Council's Customer Relations Team on 113 22 63 to arrange a safe location for the material to be placed.
  • All material placed on the kerbside, service laneway or public area is considered the property of the owner or tenant and is their responsibility until collected and removed by Council.
  • Any materials placed on the kerbside, service laneway or public area in a manner contrary to these terms and conditions may be considered illegal and fines may apply.
