To help keep Macarthur kids safe, Camden Council is teaming up with Macarthur Highway Patrol and Campbelltown City and Wollondilly Shire Councils to urge motorists to be safe around schools.

As part of this month’s Eyes on the Road campaign, an educational flyer is being distributed to all local schools in the Macarthur region.

The messaging aims to:

  • Improve school road safety;
  • Inform road users on how to best use the traffic facilities around local schools; and
  • Minimise traffic impacts around schools to our local communities.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, encouraged everyone to work together to ensure road safety around our schools.

“More than 100,000 students travel to and from schools in the Macarthur region every day, so it’s extremely important that we reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour with kids,” she said.

“This flyer will help remind students and drivers about what is needed to keep kids safe on the road.

“Also occurring this month is National Walk Safely to School Day, which encourages primary school students to walk and commute to school safely and I encourage everyone to get involved.”
