Camden Council is asking for your feedback on its draft Cat Management Plan, which aims to promote responsible cat ownership and ensure the safety and welfare of pets, people and the local environment.

The Plan, which guides the responsible management of cats over the next five years, identifies actions to achieve Council’s vision to create an environment where cats integrate into the Camden area safely and harmoniously.

The plan has four overarching aims:

  • Caring for cats through responsible cat ownership;
  • Providing a framework for managing semi-owned and un-owned cats;
  • Improving domestic cat welfare and rehoming; and
  • Protecting wildlife and reducing the impact of feral cats.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, encouraged the community to view the draft Plan and share their thoughts.

“Council remains committed to ensuring the protection of our wildlife, while also caring for cats, which is why we’re proud our Animal Care Facility operates as no kill,” she said.

“We’d love to hear from cat owners, owners of other pets, wildlife enthusiasts or anyone else who has something to say on this Plan.”

The draft Cat Management Plan will be on public exhibition until 31 October.
