Council has accepted $4.5 million in funding from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment under the Special Infrastructure Contributions Program.

The funding will go towards the design of Rickard Road from Heath Road, to south of Woolgen Park Road in Leppington.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the funding will go towards the delivery of infrastructure to support the future growth of Leppington.

“I’d like to thank the NSW Government and the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment for their funding and look forward to seeing the completed works,” Cr Fedeli said.

Camden State MP, Peter Sidgreaves, said the Special Infrastructure Contribution funding for this design project is the result of upfront strategic planning and the investment of developer contributions by the NSW Government.

“This funding provides for the planning and delivery of infrastructure needed to support development for new communities for our growing area,” Mr Sidgreaves said.

The announcement follows Council receiving more than $4.8 million from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s State Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) Program to go towards road designs for Dickson Road in Leppington ($1.8 million) and Springfield Road in Catherine Field ($3 million) earlier this year.
