Local children have been rewarded for their creativity and passion for endangered species at the Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition awards ceremony yesterday (Thursday 7 September).

Hundreds of local children from the Macarthur region entered the competition which invited entrants from schools in Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly Shire to learn about a threatened plant or animal and represent it in an artwork or creative writing piece.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney, said the works were of a high calibre.

“The works were simply amazing this year and I congratulate every student who submitted their incredible pieces,” she said.

“The Macarthur area is home to quite a unique environment, and it’s important that we help our children learn about our flora and fauna while using their creative flair.

“The Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition continues to help educate our local kids, while they impress us with their creativity.”

  • 5-6 years old - Emaan;
