Residents are invited to have their say on Camden Council’s Draft 2017/18 - 2020/21 Revised Delivery Program and Draft 2020/21 Operational Plan (Budget), after they were endorsed at last night’s Ordinary Meeting for public exhibition.

The $336 million Draft Budget will see the delivery of Council’s $16.8 million COVID-19 support package, for residents and local businesses adversely affected by the pandemic.

It will also see the delivery of a $178 million Capital Works Program, including the continuation of a $5.1 million Community Infrastructure Renewal Program (CIRP), as well as a budget surplus of almost $2 million reinvested into the community.

These draft documents also propose to provide households within the Camden area three free kerbside clean-ups each year, as opposed to the two Council currently has in place.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the robust delivery program was what the fastest growing local government area in Australia needed.

“We’re welcoming more than 100 new residents every week, so the Camden area is indeed still growing,” Cr Fedeli said.

“The draft budget has lots of elements to it and this one is particularly special with the announcement of the COVID-19 support package. Another exciting and tangible element for our residents is the Capital Works Program. As part of the past budgets, we have seen the completion of the $13.7 million, state-of-the-art Oran Park Library for example.

“With this almost-$180 million Capital Works Program, we will see the delivery of key projects like the second stage of the Narellan Sports Hub, totalling $17.3 million and the Ferguson’s Land cricket facility, totalling $8.4 million.

“It’s our job here at Council to continue delivering high quality infrastructure, services, projects and initiatives are delivered for our current and future residents, businesses and visitors. I’m incredibly proud to say I believe the draft budget does just that once again – but, of course, we want to hear what our residents think.”

The draft Delivery Program, draft budget and draft 2020/21 Capital Works Program will be public exhibition from Monday 4 May. The chance to have your say on these documents will end on Sunday 31 May.
