Not-for-profit organisations and community groups can now seek assistance with local programs or events, with applications for Camden Council’s Community Sponsorship Program now open.

The program provides support to community-based groups and organisations by providing either in-kind or monetary support.

Camden Rugby Club committee member, Ross Neich, said it was a massive help when the club received funding from the previous round of the Community Sponsorship Program.

“The funding we have been successful in receiving is essential for us to be able to host the New South Wales Junior Rugby Union State competition for under-12s, right in the heart of Camden,” Mr Neich said.

“We get over 2,000 people attend over the June long weekend each year at Camden Rugby Park, better known as Hayter Reserve for this event.

“It was certainly fantastic to receive funding for our event and I would strongly recommend other organisations look into applying.”

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said she was pleased to give local organisations the chance to secure much-needed funds for fantastic events in the local area.

“I love helping local community organisations reach their full potential and giving chances to those who need it in our area,” she said.

“I have volunteered for a very long time in the Camden area and know how important these funds are to the continued success of any program or organisation. So, I encourage all local organisations that are eligible to apply.”

Applications for sponsorship are invited twice per year for events and will be assessed by Council’s Sponsorship Allocation Committee. Applications currently open are for events being held between July and December 2020 are will close Sunday 1 March.
