Community Resilience and Preparedness
Camden Council is committed to helping our community stay informed, prepared and resilient before, during and after emergencies.
This page focuses on long‑term preparedness and community resilience. In an emergency live warnings and emergency updates are available through the Camden Emergency Dashboard Camden Council Disaster Dashboard.
With disasters like flooding, becoming more frequent it has never been more important to get prepared and that’s why Camden Council is supporting our residents to become more resilient. As a participating Council in the Resilient Sydney program, we are collaborating with the Councils of Sydney to create a metropolis that is connected, inclusive and resilient.
Emergencies and community challenges are becoming more complex. Camden faces a range of risks and pressures, from natural hazards such as flooding and heatwaves to ongoing stresses like population growth, cost of living pressures and social isolation.
Community resilience is about more than responding to disasters. It is about:
- Preparing for disruptions before they occur
- Supporting each other during difficult times
- Recovering and adapting so our community can continue to thrive
Camden’s Resilience Plan
Camden Council is developing a Resilience Plan to help our community prepare for, respond to and recover from a wide range of challenges.
The Resilience Plan will:
- Identify the key shocks (sudden events like floods, bushfires or heatwaves) and stresses (ongoing challenges such as housing, transport or financial pressures) facing Camden
- Recognise the strengths and assets already in our community
- Provide a roadmap for how Council, partners and the community can work together to build resilience over time
The draft Plan is currently on public exhibition, and we are requesting your feedback visit the Camden Your Voice webpage Camden Resilience Plan - Public Exhibition | Your Voice Camden
