Updates to Doohan Reserve Tennis Courts
Alert issued Feb 20, 2026, 9:28 AM
From 17 March 2026, Council will introduce a new management model for Doohan Reserve’s tennis courts to support both community access and tennis development.
The reserve has 8 courts, now managed as follows:
- Courts 1–4: Managed by an approved tennis business for coaching, programs, and structured tennis activities. These courts are not available for casual bookings.
- Courts 5–8: Available for casual community use. Bookings are required through Council’s online system, and fees apply in line with Council’s adopted Fees & Charges.
Casual players can still enjoy tennis! Courts 5–8 are open for personal, non-commercial play.
Why this change?
This model balances community access with structured tennis programs, supporting talent pathways while keeping the facility safe, well-managed, and sustainable.
For a full list of fees and FAQs, visit: Doohan Reserve Tennis Courts
We thank the community for your understanding as we continue to grow tennis opportunities while keeping courts available for casual players.
COMMUNITY NOTICE: Calicivirus Vaccination
Alert issued Feb 20, 2026, 9:28 AM
Throughout Greater Sydney, European rabbits continue to impact agricultural areas and natural bushland, degrading important habitat for native wildlife. To help manage these impacts, the NSW Government’s Local Land Services, Camden Council and private landholders are working together on an annual coordinated regional pest rabbit control program in March 2026.
The program will include use of the biological control agent–RHDV1 (calicivirus)– in Camden Council’s high value nature conservation areas. This virus is not harmful to native animals or domestic pets, other than rabbits.
To keep your pet rabbits safe, please ensure they are vaccinated against this virus. Vaccinations should be completed before 20 February 2026 and can be arranged through local veterinarians.
For more information, visit Council's Feral Rabbits page, or contact Council’s Natural Resource Officers at sustainability@camden.nsw.gov.au or 13 22 63.
If you are a private landholder and currently have a problem with European rabbits on your property, please contact Local Land Services on 1300 795 299 to register your interest in this program.
Biosecurity Notice of tree dieback within Oran Park and Harrington Park
Alert issued Feb 20, 2026, 9:28 AM
Council wishes to advise that in response to concerns over trees showing signs of poor health in this area, Camden Council has undertaken some initial testing. A plant pathogen–Phytophthora spp. has been detected within the soil. To better understand the extent of the issue and to inform next steps, further investigations are being undertaken in consultation with experts.
Please help us to protect street trees, bushland areas and gardens, by:
• Walking on formal pathways;
• Always keeping pets on lead, and walking pets on formal pathways; and
• NOT walking in planted/soil/mulched sections of median strips, garden beds, or bushland areas.
These simple actions will help reduce the risks associated with the plant pathogen.
Thank you for your patience and for helping us look after Camden’s trees.

Temporary Closure of Parkour Equipment at Julia Reserve Youth Precinct
Alert issued Feb 20, 2026, 9:28 AM
The parkour equipment at Julia Reserve Youth Precinct is temporarily closed.
Why is the parkour equipment closed?
The parkour equipment at Julia Reserve Youth Precinct is temporarily closed so Council can carry out detailed safety inspections. Recent changes have been made to the Australian Standard for parkour equipment (AS EN 16899:2020). The original design and construction were completed before these standards were adopted.
How long will the equipment be closed?
The equipment will remain closed while safety inspections are underway. While we don’t have an exact timeframe for the time being, we appreciate the community’s patience as we prioritise safety and work towards long-term improvements.
Is the equipment unsafe?
Parkour as a sport carries inherent risks, and users are made aware of this through onsite signage. However, recent changes have been made to the Australian Standard for parkour equipment (AS EN 16899:2020). While the facility met earlier design standards, a thorough investigation is now required. The closure is a precautionary measure to support the safety of all users.
Can I still use other areas of Julia Reserve Youth Precinct?
Yes, all of the other areas of Julia Reserve Youth Precinct are completely unaffected. This includes the skatepark, community centre, basketball court, ping pong tables, kickabout space, shelters and seating.
How will I know when the equipment is open again?
We will keep the community informed via our social media channels and website. You can also contact Council directly if you have any questions.
