The Veteran Employment Program (Australian Government - Department of Veteran's Affairs) provides information and resources to support transition to civilian employment including finding veteran friendly employers, building skills, finding jobs, and other employment support and resources.

Cadet, Apprentice, Trainee & Student Programs

Camden Council’s CATS Programs provide structured pathways for individuals to gain practical experience and formal qualifications while working. Participants benefit from study leave, expert mentoring, and work experience. These programs are integral to the Council’s Workforce Management Strategy, expanding career opportunities within the community.

Council offers four CATS Program Streams:

  • Cadetships: For university students seeking hands-on experience in areas such as Civil Engineering, Communications, Planning, and Sustainability. Cadets work across business units under mentorship and are employed as temporary full-time staff for up to four years.
  • Apprenticeships: Offered in fields like horticulture, parks and gardens, and civil construction. Apprenticeships are managed in partnership with Group Training Organisations or funded by the NSW Government Fresh Start funding.
  • Traineeships: Available in business administration, finance, IT, library services, and volunteering. Trainees gain experience in various Council departments.
  • Student Planners/Student Engineers: Opportunities for students in Urban planning, engineering, to study and gain valuable practical experience in the area, these are temporary part time, for up to one year.
