Donations for Charitable Purposes Program

The Donations for Charitable Purposes Program provides up to $1,000 in monetary or in-kind support to eligible individuals, community groups and organisations for one-off charitable purposes that benefit the Camden community.

Applications are accepted year-round and funding is subject to eligibility, available budget and Council approval.

Please allow a minimum of six weeks for your application to be processed.

Who can apply?

Applications are accepted from:

  • individuals residing within the Camden Local Government Area (LGA);
  • community groups or organisations operating within the Camden LGA; or
  • applicants seeking support for an initiative that will provide a direct benefit to Camden LGA residents.

Applications must be for a one-off donation or project and demonstrate a charitable purpose and benefit to the Camden community.

How much can I apply for?

Applicants can request up to $1,000 in:

  • monetary support;
  • in-kind support; or
  • a combination of monetary and in-kind support.

What is not usually funded?

Council does not usually provide funding through this program for:

  • recurrent or ongoing funding;
  • general operating expenses;
  • refundable bonds;
  • insurance;
  • political parties or political groups; or
  • requests that do not demonstrate a charitable purpose or community benefit.

What do I need to provide?

Applicants will need to provide information and supporting documentation relevant to their request, including:

  • applicant name and address;
  • contact details for the applicant, office bearer or authorised contact person;
  • amount requested;
  • purpose of the donation or support;
  • details of how the request will benefit Camden LGA residents;
  • relevant fundraising authority, statutory declaration or incorporation documentation, where applicable;
  • evidence of the costs being requested, such as invoices; and
  • bank account details.

Additional information may be requested where required to assess an application.

How are applications assessed?

Applications are assessed against the program's eligibility requirements and may consider:

  • the purpose of the request;
  • the amount requested;
  • demonstrated benefit to residents of the Camden LGA;
  • value for money;
  • previous Council support and acquittal status; and
  • availability of Council funding.

Approval is subject to available budget and Council's discretion.

If your application is successful?

Funding or in-kind support must only be used for the approved charitable purpose.

Successful applicants should notify Council of any changes that may affect the approved purpose or delivery of the request.

Other: Mayoral Citizenship Prize

Primary and secondary schools within the Camden LGA can apply for the Mayoral Citizenship Prize through this program.

The prize consists of a certificate and book prize for one student nominated by each school and is awarded at the end of the school year.
