NSW Single-use Plastic Ban

- Since 1 June 2022, the supply of lightweight shopping bags has been banned in NSW.
- Since1 November 2022, the supply of single-use plastic straws, stirrers, cutlery, bowls, plates and expanded polystyrene food service items has been banned in NSW.
Businesses in Camden can find out more detailed information on this ban on the National Retail Association business information page.
Stormwater
Did you know that water that falls onto our footpaths and streets flows untreated and unfiltered into our local creeks and rivers?
Local businesses can help by ensuring:
- When cleaning or washing that the runoff does not enter stormwater drains
- All cleaning wastewater (e.g. mop water) is disposed of to sewer and not down external drains
- Staff are educated on their responsibilities when it comes to disposal of wastewater. Business owners can be held accountable for the actions of staff and fines can apply for anyone who causes water pollution
- Waste is stored securely so that it can’t be blown or washed into drains or waterways
We can all do our part in protecting our creeks and rivers. Remember, the drain is just for rain.
