Local Government Week
Each year, NSW councils celebrate Local Government Week.
Local Government Week provides the perfect opportunity to promote the importance of councils in the local community.
This year Local Government Week was celebrated from Monday 30 July to Sunday 5 August 2018 with the theme The Power of Community.
The annual Year 6 Mayor for a Day public speaking competition was held on Friday 3 August where representatives from primary schools in the LGA shared with the judging panel what they would do if they were Mayor for a day.
Angela Khalil from Mount Annan Public School was awarded 'Mayor' and the winner of the competition with Olivia Upfill from St Clare's Catholic Primary awarded 'Deputy Mayor.' All of the students who took part in the day spoke clearly and presented many great ideas and initiatives.
Thank you to the Mayor of Camden, Cr Lara Symkowiak and Camden's 2018 Young Citizen of the Year, Lubna Sherieff for being the events judges.
Council also provided a series of fun facts and stats on the Council's Facebook page during Local Government Week to showcase and highlight what we do for community.
