Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, is reminding residents to check the safety of their swimming pools as we enter the warmer months of the year.

Summer brings the opportunity for the community to enjoy their swimming pools in their own time and Cr Therese Fedeli said it is important to make sure they are compliant.

“Safety in and around the swimming pool is of paramount importance to keep you and your family safe while having a good time as the weather starts to heat up,” Cr Fedeli said.

“This starts from making sure there is constant adult supervision of children while in and around swimming pools and carrying out checks of the swimming pool barrier and surrounding areas”.

Simple swimming pool safety checks can be done by owners and can be found at www.swimmingpoolregister.nsw.gov.au

Council has also put together a promotional video to help residents checking their own pool safety at home.

“It is also timely to remind residents that any inflatable or portable pools which are capable of being filled with water to a depth greater than 300mm must have a compliant pool fence installed,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Council’s Swimming Pool Inspection program provides information regarding the inspection of swimming pool barriers by Council and applications for a Certificate of Compliance for swimming pool barriers if needed.”
