Camden’s historic town centre has become even more popular online, with more than 20,000 people viewing the first ever Unlock Camden virtual walking tour video.

The 10-minute video highlights some of Camden’s most iconic historical properties and unlocks stories from the past and present.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the video was a fantastic way to show off the history and tradition of the Camden area.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to host Unlock Camden as we normally would by opening the doors to some of our most historical properties,” Cr Fedeli said.

“But it was amazing to see more people than ever take the opportunity to get a real glimpse of our town’s unique place in Australia’s history.

“I imagine some of our residents didn’t know what gems they had sitting on their doorstep, just waiting to be explored. I am glad so many people had the chance to view the sites while also listening to interviews by many locals in the video.

“Unlock Camden allows us to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of the Camden area. I encourage the entire community to jump onto Facebook and check out the video. It will definitely give you a sense of pride to be living in one of Australia’s most beautiful areas.”

Residents can still visit the Miss Llewella Davies Pioneer Walkway and discover the history of Camden Town Farm while maintain social distancing.

Unlock Camden was organised by Camden Council in collaboration with Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee.
