Camden residents are encouraged to make the most of July, with a range of free and low-cost activities, events and community initiatives on offer across the Camden area.

A highlight in the calendar is Camden Council's free Recycling Drop Off including textiles and electronic waste event on Saturday 18 July, 9am-3pm, at Camden Council Depot, 5 Millwood Avenue, Narellan.

The event, which gives residents the opportunity to declutter their homes and dispose of hard-to-recycle items responsibly, will accept:

• Bulky cardboard;
• Paper;
• Polystyrene (not accepted in yellow recycling bin);
• Textiles, including blankets, pillows, manchester, handbags, shoes, soft toys and hard toys; and
• E-waste, including all small domestic items that can be plugged into a wall and lifted by one person.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the event was a practical way for residents to support sustainability while clearing out unwanted items.

"Our Recycling Drop Off event provides a free and convenient way to recycle, helping to divert waste from landfill and protect our environment,” she said.

"It's also a great opportunity for residents to get organised during the winter months and make room at home while ensuring unwanted items are disposed of responsibly."

Council’s Recycling Drop Off event is just one of several activities taking place across Camden this July. Others include:

• NAIDOC Week Community Event on Tuesday 7 July, 10am-1pm, at Curry Reserve, Camden;
• Winter School Holiday Program on Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July, 10am-3pm, at The Alan Baker Art Gallery; and
• Healthy Bladder and Bowel Habits on Wednesday 22 July, 10.30am-12pm, at Narellan Library.
