Summer is just around the corner and Camden Council is ready to help you start the fun and games, with the ultimate Backyard Bash to enjoy at home.

The perfect barbecue can include many favourite tunes, recipes and games so Council is running the #camdenbackyardbash social media campaign to get the party started.

Starting from today and running throughout the week, the Backyard Bash social media campaign will include:

  • Monday 12 October – we’re asking you, on Facebook and Instagram, for your favourite old school or new school tunes;
  • Friday 16 October – we’re asking you, on Facebook, to comment your go-to barbecue recipe, for the chance to win one of 10 meat trays, valued at $50 each;
  • Thursday 22 October – we’re asking you, on Facebook, what games you like to play at a backyard barbecue, for the chance to win one of 10 meat trays, valued at $50 each; and
  • Thursday 29 October – we’ll choose a selection of your suggested songs to make the ultimate Backyard Bash playlist on Spotify and reveal your top 10 recipes and top 10 games. The recipes, games and Spotify playlist are all there for you to have an ultimate Backyard Bash this summer.

Then, throughout summer, Council will link back to the information on our website and encourage our residents to share what they’re doing in their Backyard Bash with the hashtag #camdenbackyardbash

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said enjoying a backyard barbecue was the traditional way of celebrating the warmer months of the year.

“There is nothing better than enjoy a barbecue in your own backyard with family and friends and we want to put together the best Camden backyard bash,” Cr Fedeli said.

“We definitely enjoyed our Backyard Bash event last year and although we cannot enjoy it all together as a community this year, there is no reason why we cannot help create the best home event yet.

“So, let’s get those ideas onto social media as soon as we can as we prepare the perfect barbecue for you right in your own backyard.”
