New kids eResource to teach kids new language

Posted 4 years ago

Local children can now learn a second language with ease, with Camden Libraries increasing access to their online eResources.

Languages other than English (LOTE) Online for Kids is a new children’s eResource, including digital books in over 20 languages with English translations, available for children aged up to 12 years.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said local children can now enjoy stories from all over the world while sitting in the comfort of their own home.

“Reading is very important, especially for children, as it develops their minds at a young age,” Cr Fedeli said.

“The LOTE Online for Kids eResource allows our local kids to hear stories they may have not come across before.

“While reading new stories, this fantastic resource also gives kids an option to learn a bit of another language which is an added bonus.

“I encourage our local children to log into the online portal and start reading some exciting stories available to them for the first time.”

Camden libraries also offer a range of other eResources for members including:

  • eBooks;
  • eAudio;
  • eComics;
  • eMagazines;
  • eResearch;
  • Online tutoring; and
  • Online software training.

Camden Libraries also remain open to the public with a number of restrictions in place.
