International Womens Day Gala hailed a success

Camden Council is proud to announce more than $14,000 was raised for Big Yellow Umbrella through ticket sales to Council’s International Women’s Day Gala and donations.

The organisation was selected as part of Council’s expression of interest process, which invited local charities and not-for-profit organisations to apply to receive the funds raised from ticket sales of the event.

As the chosen beneficiary, Big Yellow Umbrella has indicated the funds will go towards supporting five local playgroups, helping mothers who have a small business at home to promote their services and products and inviting expert speakers to the playgroups to educate the mothers on issues and topics of interest to women.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the event, which saw 250 people attend, was a success yet again.

“The International Women’s Day Gala is always such a highlight because it’s just fantastic to get together to celebrate women’s achievements while raising funds for a great local organisation,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Women play a vital role in the community, and it was important to pay tribute to each and every woman in our beautiful area. It was fantastic to have renowned businessperson, entrepreneur, podcaster, blogger and Australian ‘shark’, Naomi Simson, as our guest speaker on the night, sharing so many fantastic pearls of wisdom and personal stories.

“I’d like to thank all the attendees and everyone else who donated to Big Yellow Umbrella.”

Council would also like to acknowledge and thank the following sponsors of the Gala:

  • Gold sponsors – Macarthur BMW and Sprouts Consultancy;
  • Silver sponsor – Politech Air Conditioning Services; and
  • Bronze sponsors – Books by Katrina, Camden Digital Arts & Culture Centre, Century 21 Pereira Group, Jones XL Pty Ltd, McDonald’s, Moontribe Beauty-Candles-Décor, Stone Real Estate Macarthur, Taylor’d Funerals, The Greater Narellan Business Chamber, The Mindful Collective Macarthur and Tony Wolf & Son Quality Printers.

The annual event was held at Gledswood Homestead and Winery last Wednesday evening.
