Pedestrian safety improvements are on their way to Cobbitty Road, after Council received more than $100,000 in funding from Transport NSW.

Council will design and construct a new pedestrian refuge, bus bays and footpaths near Macarthur Anglican School.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the improvement was a key infrastructure link as the community grows.

“The Camden area is experiencing growth and it is important for Council to continue looking for options to fund improvements,” Cr Fedeli said.

“This will allow for improved pedestrian safety, which is paramount around any school, especially for one that sits along a road which is slowly getting busier.

“I’d like to thank the NSW Government for their commitment to helping our community grow safely.”

The funding came from Transport NSW’s Active Transport program, for pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Funding guidelines indicate that Transport NSW priority is based on the volumes of pedestrians and the community function of the locality, with schools identified as key destinations.
