Celebrate global Community Engagement Day and use Your Voice

Residents are encouraged to use their voice to better the Camden area as Council gears up to celebrate global Community Engagement Day this Saturday (28 January).

Your Voice Camden is Council’s online community engagement tool, supporting the community to shape proposals and strategies by sharing their thoughts on matters regarding the Camden area, to help Council make decisions.

The portal is a game-changer when it comes to two-way communications with residents, including the ability to search matters by topic and suburb; the option to receive email alerts on topics of interest; 24/7 access to ensure convenience of participation; and so much more.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said global Community Engagement Day aimed to create awareness of working collaboratively to continually improve places, spaces and communities.

“Everything we do at Council is to help our community and our beloved Camden area be the best it possibly can,” Cr Fedeli said.

“And who better to help us work to this goal than the people that live and breathe our suburbs and neighbourhoods each and every day? Our residents are the lifeblood of what we do and hearing their opinions, thoughts and aspirations for the area and our future is incredibly important.

“Your Voice Camden provides residents with a direct link to Council's decision-making processes. We’ve seen some great interaction with the portal since launching it just over a year ago and we’re looking for this to continue.”

There are a number of items currently on public exhibition, with residents encouraged to submit their feedback. They include:

  • The Public Art Strategy, which invites residents to help Council develop an approach to creative, unique and innovative public art; and
  • The Urban Forest Strategy, where residents can help shape Council’s targets and actions and assist in setting the direction to achieving a healthy and resilient urban forest which provides immense benefits to our community.
