Returning Recycling Drop Off a success

Camden has continued its positive recycling, with more than two tonnes of recycling waste including 15 cubic metres of polystyrene collected at Council’s Recycling Drop Off event over the weekend.

The quarterly event, which was postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19, returned on Saturday 10 October to Council’s Depot, with residents getting rid of their extra recycling waste including cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, cans and polystyrene.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said it was fantastic to see so many residents doing the right thing for the environment.

“Recycling our waste is so important,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Getting it right means we protect our natural environment and our community. I am glad so many residents took up the chance to do so in the best possible way at our event.

“I know we have many new residents move into their homes over the past six months and it is fantastic to offer this service again after its hiatus during the onset of the pandemic.

“I would also like to commend our residents for following the COVID-19 regulations on the day. I have received some fantastic feedback on the event already and look forward to continuing to offer it in the months to come.”

Council runs, and supports, a number of waste services for residents to take advantage of, including:

  • Three free kerbside collection services per residential property, per financial year;
  • A battery recycling program, in partnership with Campbelltown and Wollondilly Councils;
  • Household Chemical CleanOut, held annually in February;
  • Free E-Waste service all year round at Spring Farm Resource Recovery Park; and
  • The NSW Government’s Return and Earn program, for eligible drink containers.
