Camden will soon become greener and leafier, with Council accepting funding to plant a further 700 park and street trees across the area.

These trees are part of the Greening Our City grant program, which is funded by the NSW Government in association with Local Government NSW. They will add to the existing program to plant 1,000 trees, which Council received funding for under the Greening our City Program 2020.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the trees will be planted to help create a more sustainable, liveable and cooler Camden.

“The Camden area is set in a beautiful environment and adding even more trees will be a welcome addition,” Cr Fedeli said.

“I had the pleasure of welcoming Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Rob Stokes, to Narellan last month to announce this terrific funding, and it’s been great to formally accept Camden’s share.

“Residents will see these trees planted over the next eighteen months.”

The location and species of trees to be planted will be assessed for each individual site based on site constraints and to complement the existing streetscape and other plantings.
