Community sport has received even more assistance, with a number of facilities receiving recent upgrades.

The lucky local football, rugby league, swimming and cricket facilities which have benefited includes:

  • Cuthill Reserve, Cobbitty – two synthetic cricket nets installed for use by Cobbitty Park Cricket Club;
  • Wandarrah Oval, Mount Annan – upgraded floodlighting to assist Mount Annan Mustangs Football Club;
  • Narellan Sports Hub Rugby League Renovations – automated irrigation, improved lighting and field renovations for Narellan Jets Rugby League Club; and
  • Camden War Memorial Pool – upgraded floodlighting.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said it was important to continue supporting and improving local sporting facilities.

“While we are lucky enough to be able to construct brand new facilities for the growing area of Camden, it is equally important to upkeep our existing parks, playgrounds and facilities,” Cr Fedeli said.

“These upgrades will not only assist the local clubs mostly using the facilities but also other residents who use them.

“Council is committed to continuing to support the community through the pandemic including being able to move forward with improvements such as this.”

Works to complete a series of new sporting facilities have also begun, including:

  • Camden’s first synthetic football field located at Nott Oval in Narellan; and
  • Construction of Narellan Sports Hub Stage Two, including a synthetic athletics track, additional netball courts and criterium cycling track.
