Taking photos while discovering local plants and animals could lead to residents winning materials needed to go on a nature safari.

As part of Council’s ‘Connect with Nature’ video series, which was released in November this year, residents are invited to submit photos of themselves undertaking a backyard safari or creating a habitat garden.

Entries will go into a draw to win one of three nature safari kits that includes materials needed to go on a safari, such as binoculars and a sweep net. The competition will start on 4 January and end on 5 February.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the Camden area was full of beautiful natural habitats to explore.

“The ‘Connect with Nature’ video series focuses on local biodiversity with easy tips, tricks and fun activities for residents to enjoy in their backyard, local reserve or park,” Cr Fedeli said.

“Not only have these activities been designed to be educational for families as they explore their backyard or local park, but they are also a lot of fun!

“It can be quite surprising what you can find and nurture in your own area and I encourage those interested to take a photo and submit it into the photo competition.”

The Connect with Nature video series is in partnership between Camden and Penrith Councils and produced by Hooked on Nature.
