Residents will continue to receive assistance through the COVID-19 pandemic, with Camden Council waiving a number of fees for a further three months.

The fees, totalling to more than $150,000, were waived by Council from April to October this year, as part of the Community Support Package Stage One, to support residents and businesses suffering the shocks of COVID-19. These fees included:

  • Fire safety certificates and health inspections, including food shop inspections;
  • Cemetery services;
  • Library services;
  • Outdoor dining;
  • Companion animal release; and
  • Council sporting ground hire fees.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the fee-waiver period would now end at the end of January next year.

“Council is committed to the COVID-19 recovery for the entire Camden community and this is a great step to continue helping.,” Cr Fedeli said.

“We are here to serve the community in the best possible way and extending the period to waive fees will assist many of our residents who continue to live through this pandemic.

“We are living through unprecedented times, but it is important to stick together through this. Council continues to also be financially responsible and stable, so once we are out of this COVID-19 period, we can continue investing in our community and come out of this even stronger.”
