A 20-year planning vision for Camden has been set after Council formally adopted its Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) at its ordinary meeting this week.

The plan outlines the characteristics which shape the area’s local identity and directs how future growth and change will be managed.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said Camden has a massive role to play in Greater Sydney’s future and the plan was in line to continue to keep the area thriving.

“People look at this area and see the opportunity to buy or build their dream home, spend time at state-of-the-art facilities, send their children to new and exciting schools and turn their passion into their business,” Cr Fedeli said.

“The plan has pin-pointed 129 actions to be delivered in the short and medium term across four key themes including infrastructure and collaboration, liveability, productivity and sustainability.

“This information has all been put together after months of extensive community engagement and we will now be able to set in motion the community’s 20-year planning vision for Camden.

“I am proud of the Camden we are creating, and I look forward to watching our vision continue to unfold while respecting our unique heritage.”

Camden Council was the first council in the Western City District to gain a letter of support from the Greater Sydney Commission to finalise their LSPS.
