About the Project

The Oran Park Library will be the heart of the Oran Park Civic Precinct and provide a place of community development and information, education, and recreation. Camden Council's vision is for this building to be a "community living room: where people of all ages, abilities and interest come for relaxation and entertainment, to experience history and culture, to play and create, to connect and communicate".

The floor area is approximately 2500m². The interior design will have a unique theme reflecting the area's motor racing heritage and, as well as a new high-tech open library, includes a sessional services office for community support and a community centre to foster art, culture, community activities and needs at Oran Park.

Externally there will be an outdoor landscaped area that will be used for library activities and a civic plaza in front of the building for outdoor public events.

The facility is being delivered through a voluntary planning agreement and this important piece of community infrastructure is expected to be open to the public in mid 2018.

Oran Park is getting a civic and cultural heart with a building that reflects the community's identity and Council's commitment to the delivery of quality services, together with a commitment to sustainability and the environment.

Works commenced in January 2017 and the library was opened to the public on 30 June 2018.
