SafeWork NSW manages and regulates the planning and authorisation of fireworks displays.
Council is notified, only when required, that a fireworks display is planned. Council will normally then advise SafeWork NSW if it supports or objects to the planned display based on the success of previous events at particular locations or by particular operators. Ultimately however, SafeWork NSW authorises or rejects fireworks applications.
Guidelines have been provided to Councils to assist with deciding whether to object to SafeWork NSW in regards to a firework display in which Council has received notification
Notice must be provided to SafeWork NSW seven days before a fireworks event. Fireworks can be displayed by a private individual/organisation, a public authority or a private company.
You can search for upcoming fireworks notifications that have been lodged with WorkCover NSW.
