Right to Know Week

Right to Know Week NSW (RTK) marks International Access to Information Day, celebrated internationally on 28 September. International Access to Information Day is a day where citizens and governments from around the world can support the fundamental human right to access information and promote open, transparent government.

The objective of Right to Know Week NSW is to raise awareness of a person’s right to access government held information and encourage citizens to become more engaged with the way government provides services and makes important decisions.

Right to Know Week NSW 2023, runs from 25 September to 1 October.

This year, the theme for Right to Know Week is the importance of the online space for access to information.

The right to know remains crucial in this digital age and the online space helps foster an informed and engaged society, enabling individuals to make well-informed decisions and participate actively in public discourse.

Camden Council is a proud Right to Know Week NSW Champion and supports your right to access government information.

The Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) is leading the Right to Know Week campaign, and its website has resources to assist us in meeting our obligations under the GIPA Act. You can learn more about what's planned during Right to Know Week NSW 2023 and view other resources on the IPC's website: www.ipc.nsw.gov.au/RTK2023.
