International Women's Day
International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March each year to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women and to bring attention to the issues that still face women today.
Each year Camden Council hosts an event or activity to mark International Women's Day.
This year the theme is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”
To celebrate, Council is running a series of programs to celebrate women and invest in health and wellbeing.
FREE YOGA SESSIONS
Camden women are invited to participate in a free yoga session to promote health, wellbeing and relaxation. These sessions are available for women 18 years and over.
Morning session: Tuesday 19 March 11.30am - 12.30pm
Evening session: Thursday 21 March 7.30 – 8.30pm

WOMEN’S SELF DEFENCE CLASSES
Camden women aged 18 and over are invited to participate in a free introduction to self-defence class at The PIT Martial Arts, Health & Fitness Centre.
The class will cover a range of basic tools to empower participants and apply learned skills in a safe and controlled environment.
Participants should wear white or coloured soled sport shoes (not black soled shoes) or can participate barefoot. Please wear comfortable clothes with minimal buttons and zippers and remember to bring a drink bottle with water only.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY MOVIE NIGHT
Camden Council in partnership with the Camden/Wollondilly Domestic Violence Committee will host their annual International Women’s Day movie night.
Movie: Madame Web
Where: United Cinema Narellan, Cnr Queen and Elyard Street, Narellan.
Date: Wednesday 13 March
Time: 6.30pm for 7pm start
$15 for Grand Recliner Seats, $10 for regular seats. Free popcorn and drink per person.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY GALA EVENING
Camden Council's annual International Women's Day Gala returns for another year to promote gender equality and raise funds for a local charity. Joining us will be keynote speaker and Olympic Champion, Jana Pittman.
Date: Thursday 7 March 2024, 5.30-9pm
Location: Gledswood Homestead & Winery
Tickets: $110 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10. Ticket includes a two-course meal, drinks package and gift. All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to support local charity, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard.
