Expressions of interest were sought from young musicians and bands, eager to be involved in the 2021 Camden Creatives Take the Lead Project- Spotlite to showcase locally produced original music. The successful project was finalist in the 2021 WayAhead Mental Health Matters Awards - Youth Category.
Spotlite provided the opportunity for young people to enjoy live music and great company.It is a program that profiles young emerging artists, builds friendships, and connects young people with services that can assist to maintain mental health.
The project showcased the works of young creatives to a broad audience in a variety of contexts, whilst developing the skills of the young leadership group, mentored to deliver the program.
Spotlite was designed to;
- Raise awareness of youth mental health, profiling available support services,
- Build confidence and self-esteem of young people through creative expression.
- Increase visibility of local emerging talent and profile to a broader audience.
This program was delivered through music events at Julia Reserve Youth Centre and Camden Civic Centre in 2021.
