Children and Families
The Camden Local Government Area (LGA) has one of the highest proportions of children in NSW with 24,944 children aged between 0 and 11 years, representing 20.8% of the total Camden Local Government Area population (ABS, 2021).
Camden Council is committed to investing in children and families. We develop projects aimed at assisting children aged 0 -12 years and their parents/carers. We provide information about local children and family services available to families, through the Camden Kids website and eNewsletter. We provide and promote a range of child and family friendly activities happening across the area.
On 30 October 2018 Camden Council adopted the Camden Children and Families Strategy, which outlines its strategic framework to improve the childhood experience of every child living in the Camden Local Government Area. The strategy states a clear goal for Camden, that the “Camden Local Government Area is a place where all children receive a safe, healthy and happy start in life, are actively connected and have a voice in their community.” The Camden Children and Families Strategy 2018-2021 was reviewed, with the new Camden Children and Families Strategy in development.
