Community and Road Safety

Community Safety

Community Safety is about the quality of life in Camden. It promotes a community culture of safety and well-being by addressing community and lifestyle issues through good design and use of appropriate materials, education, plus the effective management and enforcement of our public places. Camden Council’s Strategic Plan recognises the importance of community safety to our residents and has in place mechanisms and partnerships in order to address community safety issues in our area including:

Alcohol Free Zones and Alcohol Prohibited Areas

The principal objective of an Alcohol Free Zone is to prevent disorderly behaviour caused by the consumption of alcohol in public areas to improve public safety. Alcohol Free Zones can only be established by Councils in accordance with Ministerial Guidelines and the Local Government Act, and under consultation and endorsement by Police.

Partnerships with Police

Camden Council works closely with Camden Local Area Command to address community safety issues in our community. Please report instances of crime to Police in the first instance.
