
Living Macarthur Nature Photography Competition & Exhibition 2012Hey all you nature loving shutterbugs: polish off that camera lens, get outdoors and get snapping - it's that time of year again! The Macarthur Councils are once again hosting the highly anticipated Living Macarthur Nature Photography Competition and we're after your most striking, engaging and enticing images of the region's flora, fauna and natural scenery. The CompetitionYou are invited to enter your best nature pics from our region for a chance to win a range of prizes totalling over $4000! As well as a chance to have your images displayed at various locations as part of a travelling regional exhibition. Participants are encouraged to visit their favourite scenic spots in search of images that reflect the unique natural beauty and environmental heritage of the Macarthur region. Award Themes and Age GroupsEntries are to be submitted under one of the following competition themes and age group categories: Our Landscapes Panoramic images of our region's natural scenery such as vistas of cloudscape and distant landforms, or bushland areas such as Cumberland Plain Woodland or Shale Sandstone Transition Forest. Our Waterways Images reflecting some aspect of the lakes, rivers and creeks of Macarthur such as Thirlmere Lakes, or the Georges and Nepean Rivers and their tributaries. Our Wildlife Images which depict the native flora and fauna of the Macarthur region such as Forest red gum, platypus or the Cumberland Plain land snail. Our Environment This is a general or open category in which your photo tells a story or makes an environmental statement about an issue or place in Macarthur that has meaning for you Age Group Categories There are two age group categories: - Young People's Section: 15 years and under - Open Section: 16 years and over How to enter?This year we are offering entrants the opportunity to submit their photographs electronically. If you choose this option we can print and mount your photographs for you for a small fee of $10. How easy is that! No excuses or time restrictions! We'll do the hard work for you! An expert photographer will be on hand to help you take that perfect shot. A photography expert will also be present at all walks to provide hints and tips on improving your photography skills. When: Wednesday 10 October 2012, 6.30pm - 8.30pm Where: Campbelltown Arts Centre, 1 Art Gallery Road, Campbelltown Here is where this dynamic competition comes to its exciting conclusion. Winners will be announced and displayed in a slideshow; an inspiring guest speaker will entertain the audience with tales of adventure in the natural world; guests cast their votes for the People's Choice Award, and the winners of the coveted title will be revealed at the end of the night.
