Chemical CleanOut

Camden Council supports the CleanOut program. The service is run once or twice annually and is a chance for local residents to dispose of household chemicals in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

These may include:

  • Paint and paint related products (thinners, strippers, varnish etc) 
  • Pesticides and herbicides (baits, poisons, wood preservatives) 
  • Solvents and household cleaners 
  • Motor oils and fuels 
  • Batteries 
  • Gas bottles 
  • Fire extinguishers 
  • Pool chemicals 
  • Acids and alkalis 
  • Hobby chemicals (photography chemicals etc).

Handy hint: Some materials, such as paint and car batteries can be disposed of at Jacks Gully Waste Management Facility all year round. Contact WSN Environmental Solutions on 1300 651 166 for details.

 


Syringe Disposal

Camden Council is committed to providing a safe community for our residents, and a safe work environment for our staff.

Used syringes (‘sharps’) can be disposed of safely at the following chemists in the Camden local government area:

Camden Pharmacy

Sinclairs Day & Night Pharmacy

ph: (02) 4655 9275

For the safe transportation of sharps to these chemists syringes should be placed sharp end down into a sealed sharps container or a strong plastic container with a lid, closed tightly.

If you see a syringe in public area please contact Council on 4654 7777 so that it can be removed. 

NB: Never touch a used syringe.
