Commercial Waste Collection
About the Service
If you operate a business or own a commercial property, Camden Council is able to offer you a garbage and/or recycling service.
To meet the needs of local business, the following materials can be collected
To cater to a wide range of needs, a number of bin sizes are available – 240L, 360L, 660L & 1100L.
Bins used for general garbage waste are available in 240L, 360L, 660L or 1100L sizes. Please note there are a number of restrictions as to what can be put into the bin.
- No hazardous materials (batteries, fuel/gas containers and cylinders, asbestos)
- No liquids (wastewater, oil, paint, cleaners, acids, chemicals)
Council can also collect paper, cardboard, glass and plastics materials. By separating your recyclables from general garbage waste, you will not only save money, but also help the environment.
Due to the weight of some recyclable materials, Camden Council can only collect a 240L recyclable bin. Remember to clean bottles and containers with recycling symbol 1, 2, and/or 5. Additionally, unbroken glass bottles and jars, steel and aluminium cans and empty aerosol cans can be placed into the recycling bin.
It is important that the following contaminants are not be placed in the recyclable bin.
- No plastic bags
- No paint tins
- No oil containers
- No ceramics or pyrex
- No waxed cardboard boxes
- No soiled, greaseproof paper, tissues
- No shredded paper

If bins are contaminated, Camden Council will not empty the bin until the following week – once the contamination has been removed. This is the responsibility of the user.
To prevent the general public from using the bins, they should be stored behind the building line in a safe and secure location.
For use of the 360L, 660L and 1100L bins, a contract between the applicant and Council must be entered into. The contract states the responsibilities of each party, namely that any damage, loss/theft of a bin is the responsibility of the applicant who must pay all replacement costs.
