The Camden Local Government Area (LGA) has one of the highest proportions of children in NSW with 10,077 children between 0 and 12 years of age, representing 20.5% of the total population in 2006 (ABS, 2006). For more stats, please visit the community profile.

Events and Activities

Camden Family Day Care

Camden Family Day Care is an accredited child care service which provides care for small groups of children aged 0-12 years in a carer's home environment. Care givers are carefully selected to ensure the highest quality of service is provided.

Activities @ your Library

Camden Library Service provides a variety of services for children aged 0 -12 years including:

• Story time
• Babies Into Books (BIBS)
• School Holiday Programs
• School, preschool and playgroup visits
• Premier Reading Challenge
• Parenting workshops

We also have dedicated children's spaces in our libraries that include items specifically catered to this age group. Children are encouraged to join the library and are never too young to become a member.

Child Restraint Safety Checks

Camden Council holds 4 FREE Occupant Restraint Fitting and Checking days per year where you can have all of your child car restraints, harnesses and booster seats checked for safety and correct fit.
Children's car restraints will be inspected by Roads and Traffic Authority Authorised Restraint Fitters. For more information on Children's Services at your Library, please contact:

Bumps, Bibs, Tots & Teeth Expo

‘Bumps, Bibs, Tots and Teeth' is an annual children's expo held in November each year. The expo aims at providing new & experienced parents with the support & services they require in raising their new child. A wide range of services and products are on display along with a number of fun activities for both parents & children from 0-5 years.

Playgrounds

Play is of vital importance to the development of healthy and happy children! Camden Council provides and maintains 66 play spaces with a variety of play experiences and equipment to suit all ages and abilities. Sport and recreation facilities

Council also provides a range of sport and recreation facilities for children and families including:

Mayoral Citizenship Awards

As part of Council's Donations Policy, a Mayoral Citizenship Award certificate and book prize is awarded to one student from each primary and secondary school in the Camden Local Government Area at the school's end of year Award Ceremony. Nominations open in November each year.
