Australia Day in Camden
"Aussie Aussie Aussie" will echo through the streets of Camden this Australia Day, Sunday 26 January 2014, when the Camden Community comes together to celebrate our national day of pride and the Australian Spirit.
Camden Council and the Australia Day committee have organised a jam-packed, day filled with entertainment the whole family will enjoy.
The day's activities will kick off at 8am in John Street, Camden with a range of free activities including face painting, roving entertainment, mini putt putt golf, rock climbing, jumping castles, tattoos, a Thong Throwing competition and market stalls all in line with an Australiana theme. Aussie cover band, Mad Rhino, will be back singing all your favourite Aussie hits from Shannon Knoll to AC/DC.
The Christian Community of Camden will lead an Australia Day Thanksgiving Service at the Camden Civic Centre from 8.30am followed by Camden Council's Official Citizenship and Awards Ceremony at 9.15am. Camden's Australia Day Ambassador will address the crowd and will assist the Mayor of Camden, Councillor Lara Symkowiak in announcing the award winners. At the conclusion of the Official Ceremony make your way to Argyle Street, Camden and create a sea of red, blue, green and gold and wave your Australian flag in anticipation of the Macarthur Lions Street Parade to begin at 11.15am.
A highlight of the day, The Macarthur Lions Street Parade attracts thousands of people to Argyle street, Camden as they cheer on a range of floats, community groups and displays.
Camden Council would like to thank Camden and Macarthur Lions Clubs, Camden SES, Camden/Narellan Police and the Evangelical Sisters of Mary who volunteer their time to help organise these celebrations.
