
Access to InformationOveriding Access to Information PrinciplesCamden Council is committed to the objectives of access to information legislation, and will extend, as far as possible, the rights of the public to obtain access to information held by Council. Council is subject to NSW legislation that requires it to be open and accountable in the exercise of its functions and to handle personal information in a fair and reasonable manner. Council will ensure legitimate requests for access to information are handled promptly and members of the public are able to access information, subject to the need to protect the privacy of others, commercially sensitive information and the public interest test. Accessing InformationCouncil deals with requests to inspect documents under Section 12 of the Local Government Act and the Freedom of Information Act, 1989.
